How We Met

engagement photo 2
Kyle and I first met at Northwoods Restaurant in 2002. We were both servers there…it was my first year of college, Kyle’s third year. We became friends and started hanging out together. At first, I was actually trying to set him up on a date with my best friend, Beth! Soon I realized that I was starting to fall for him. I made the move and now, eight years later, we are getting married!

Engagement Story

After work on Friday August 22, 2008, I went to go pick up our son, Parker, from daycare. When I got there his teacher told me that he wasn’t there and that daddy had picked him up at nine o’clock that morning! (What?!) I knew something was up! Instead, she says, I have something for you. It is an envelope with my name on it. I opened it. There’s a note inside from Kyle saying that “this is the start of my scavenger hunt today. Each place I go will have a new clue telling me where to go next. At the end of the scavenger hunt, you will find me. I love you!”

By that time, I had tears rolling down my cheeks – this was it! I called everyone in my phone on the way over to the first clue – “Where we first met”. I got to Northwoods where I found my next clue – “Where we had our first kiss”. I headed over to his old college house where there was yet another clue – “Our first real date”.  I got in my car and headed to the Green Mill Restaurant. When I got there, there was an envelope there for me with a hotel room key inside (holiday inn is attached to Green Mill). I went to the room, swiped the key, walked in, tears still flowing, and there was Kyle, down on one knee. As soon as I heard the words, “will you marry me”, come out of his mouth I sprinted over, tackled him, and said, “Yes!"
